Fully exposed edge/corner active sites in Fe substituted-Ni(OH)2 tube-in-tube arrays for efficient electrocatalytic oxygen evolution

Zi-Xiao Shi et al.

Summary: This study transformed amorphous Ni(OH)2 into short-range ordered Fe-substituted Ni(OH)2 with abundant electroactive edge/corner sites, and fabricated tube-in-tube arrays (TTAs) to enhance OER performance. The low-coordinated defect sites with Fe-Ni-Fe units in the short-range ordered structure of Fe-substituted Ni(OH)2 TTAs facilitate the formation of adsorbed oxygen, leading to efficient OER.

Active Edge Site Exposed β-Ni(OH)2 Nanosheets on Stainless Steel Mesh as a Versatile Electrocatalyst for the Oxidation of Urea, Hydrazine, and Water

Anil A. Kashale et al.

Summary: The study developed a highly porous and active electrocatalyst with excellent catalytic activity for urea oxidation reaction, hydrazine oxidation reaction, and oxygen evolution reaction, showing long-term stability. The catalyst's promising activity is attributed to the highly porous and edge plane exposed nanosheets grown on stainless steel mesh, which also enhances mechanical stability and mass transportation during electrocatalytic activity.

Active facet determination of layered double hydroxide for oxygen evolution reaction

Yunqi Zhang et al.

Summary: LDHs have been identified as promising electrocatalysts for OER due to their high intrinsic activity, excellent stability, and low cost. The active edge facet of LDHs plays a crucial role in improving OER activity, with higher edge facet area ratio showing superior performance. Density functional theory calculation indicates that the edge facet exhibits higher OER activity compared to the basal plane facet.
