Effect of p53 and its N-terminally truncated isoform, Δ40p53, on breast cancer migration and invasion

Xiajie Zhang et al.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the role of Delta 40p53 in breast cancer migration and invasion, finding an association between Delta 40p53 and gene expression profiles. Knockdown of both p53 alpha and Delta 40p53 resulted in increased proliferation, while overexpression of Delta 40p53 reduced proliferation rates and decreased migratory and invasive properties of the cells. These results suggest that at a basal level, Delta 40p53 works similarly to p53 alpha in suppressing cellular mobility and proliferation.

NDC80 Enhances Cisplatin-resistance in Triple-negative Breast Cancer

Jing Li et al.

Summary: This study investigated the mechanism of cisplatin resistance in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). The results revealed that NDC80 was a cisplatin-resistant gene and its expression differed between cisplatin-sensitive and resistant cells. NDC80 was found to be overexpressed in TNBC tissues and increased after cisplatin treatment. Moreover, NDC80 overexpression promoted the viability and proliferation of TNBC cells and enhanced their resistance to cisplatin. The study also identified potential pathways associated with cisplatin resistance.

The Δ40p53 isoform inhibits p53-dependent eRNA transcription and enables regulation by signal-specific transcription factors during p53 activation

Cecilia B. Levandowski et al.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of the interaction between Delta 40p53 and WTp53 on growth arrest and mRNA biogenesis. The results showed that Delta 40p53:WTp53 can influence cellular response to Nutlin-induced p53 activation, as well as specific changes in mRNA induction in response to other stimuli.
