Utility of viscoelastic coagulation testing in liver surgery: a systematic review

Eustratia Mpaili et al.

Summary: The study included 12 studies analyzing 348 liver surgery patients who underwent viscoelastic testing, with 77% being identified as normal coagulable and 5.8% experiencing postoperative thromboembolic events. The results suggest that global viscoelastic testing may be a useful adjunct to conventional coagulation testing for assessing coagulation status in liver surgery patients.
