68Ga-PSMA-HBED-CC PET/MRI is superior to multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging in men with biochemical recurrent prostate cancer: A prospective single-institutional study

Juana Martinez et al.

Summary: PSMA PET/MRI demonstrates a higher detection rate than conventional mpMRI in patients with biochemically recurrent prostate cancer, with consistent results across PSA levels, treatment modalities, and androgen deprivation therapy time. The study findings suggest that PSMA PET/MRI has superior sensitivity compared to mpMRI.

Value of Targeted Biopsies and Combined PSMA PET/CT and mp-MRI Imaging in Locally Recurrent Prostate Cancer after Primary Radiotherapy

Marnix Rasing et al.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the positive predictive value (PPV) of combined multiparametric (mp) MRI and prostate specific membrane antigen (PSMA) PET/CT imaging in patients with radiorecurrent prostate cancer. The results showed a PPV of 97.6% for combined imaging, suggesting that biopsies can be safely omitted in these patients.

Summary: This study compared the incremental value of PET/MR versus PET/CT in patients with biochemically recurrent prostate cancer, showing that PET/MR was able to detect local recurrence, lymph node metastasis, and distant metastasis at least as accurately as PET/CT.

Combination of Forced Diuresis with Additional Late Imaging in 68Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT: Effects on Lesion Visibility and Radiotracer Uptake

Ian Alberts et al.

Summary: This study compared traditional and modified PSMA PET/CT imaging protocols, with the new protocol incorporating additional late imaging, hydration, and forced diuresis. The results showed that the new protocol led to significantly reduced bladder activity and increased lesion uptake and contrast in late scans, improving the visibility and diagnostic accuracy of locally recurring prostate cancer.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the impact of forced diuresis with early furosemide injection on the detection rate of local recurrence in prostate cancer patients with biochemical recurrence referred for Ga-68-PSMA-11 PET/CT, as well as determine whether the injection of furosemide shortly after tracer injection increases renal washout of Ga-68-PSMA-11.

Adapting Imaging Protocols for PET-CT and PET-MRI for Immunotherapy Monitoring

Bettina Beuthien-Baumann et al.

Summary: This review discusses the possible advantages and methods of applying combined imaging protocols of PET-CT and PET-MRI in staging and restaging patients under immunotherapy to achieve multi-hybrid imaging in a single visit. Despite the relatively long acquisition times of PET-MRI scans, they have the potential to provide superb soft tissue contrast and functional information, although not as widely used in oncologic imaging as PET-CT.

Pharmacokinetic studies of [68 Ga]Ga-PSMA-11 in patients with biochemical recurrence of prostate cancer: detection, differences in temporal distribution and kinetic modelling by tissue type

Dimitrios S. Strauss et al.

Summary: The study showed that [(68) Ga]Ga-PSMA-11 has good tumor detection efficacy, especially in patients with higher PSA levels. Dynamic PET-CT revealed a time window in the first 10 minutes where tumor uptake is high, aiding in the distinction of local recurrence. Kinetic modelling provided additional information for tumor characterization by tissue type.
