Sustainable Dyeing of Wool Fabric Using Kermes Oak (Quercus Coccifera L) as Source of Natural Colorant

Summary: This study focused on extracting natural colorant from kermes oak fruits and applying the extracted dye on wool fibers with different mordants. The effects of dyeing time, dye bath temperature, and mordant type on dyeing quality were investigated. The results showed that mordanting deepened the color shades and enhanced the fastness properties.

Extraction and Natural Cotton Dyeing of Valonia Oak and Anatolian Buckthorn by Microwave Irradiation

Valorization of Agro-industrial Waste from Peanuts for Sustainable Natural Dye Production: Focus on Adsorption Mechanisms, Ultraviolet Protection, and Antimicrobial Properties of Dyed Wool Fabric

Summary: In this study, a semiquantitative dye adsorption analysis of agro-industrial waste from peanuts on wool fabric was conducted successfully using chlorophyll and tannin-rich biomordants. The extracted dye was subjected to various analysis including qualitative identification, thermal stability, total phenolic and flavonoid content analysis. The optimal dyeing conditions, dye adsorption parameters, and dye performances were also reported. The results showed that wool fabric with peanut skin dye exhibited good antibacterial and UV-protective behaviors, as well as diverse color variations, indicating its potential as a natural biocolorant.

Eco-friendly bio-dyeing of bio-treated nylon fabric using Esfand (P. harmala) based yellow natural colorant

In this study, microwave treatments were used for extracting Esfand (P. harmala) for polyamide dyeing. The application of microwave treatment and mordanting conditions significantly affected the dyeing outcome. Experimental results showed that dyeing polyamide with either chemical or bio-mordants under selected conditions produced good results.
