Taxonomy of Phleboviruses, Emphasizing Those That Are Sandfly-Borne

Charles H. Calisher et al.

Summary: Sandfly-borne phleboviruses consist of three RNA genome segments and encode RNA-dependent RNA polymerase for transcription and replication. Some cause mild fevers in humans while others can lead to severe illnesses. There are 67 recognized phleboviruses listed in a table compiled by the authors based on reports and literature.

Study of Arboviruses in Philander opossum, Didelphis marsupialis and Nectomys rattus captured from forest fragments in the municipality of Belem, Para, Brazil

Marcella Katheryne Marques Bernal et al.

Summary: This study reported the occurrence of various arboviruses in mammals captured from the Amazon, with some animals showing seropositivity for different arboviruses. This suggests that these animals may play a potential role in the transmission of diseases to humans.
