Spastin interacts with CRMP5 to promote spindle organization in mouse oocytes by severing microtubules

Zhen Jin et al.

Summary: Microtubule-severing protein (MTSP) spastin is highly expressed and aggregates in spindle microtubules of oocytes. Knocking down spastin leads to decreased microtubule density and maturation disorder in oocytes. Additionally, the colocalization and interaction between collapsin response mediator protein 5 (CRMP5) and spastin suggest their involvement in spindle assembly and microtubule dynamics control during meiosis. These findings emphasize the importance of spastin and its interaction with CRMP5 in ensuring normal meiotic division.
