A scalable parallel algorithm for reactive particle tracking

Maria Morvillo et al.

Summary: A novel framework for modeling reactive solute transport is introduced in this work, aiming to reduce the computational burden of existing approaches. The proposed method includes an innovative optimal kernel function and allows for the parallelization of a bimolecular reaction modeling scheme. Computational speedup analysis was conducted to demonstrate the linear scaling of computational time with the number of particles used in the simulation, making the algorithm suitable for simulating reactive transport with a large number of particles.

Pore-Scale Mixing and the Evolution of Hydrodynamic Dispersion in Porous Media

Alexandre Puyguiraud et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the interaction between pore-scale mixing and network-scale advection in porous media, and its impact on hydrodynamic dispersion evolution and behavior. By analyzing the fundamental mechanisms of pore-scale mixing in a Lagrangian framework, a theory is derived to predict anomalous and normal hydrodynamic dispersion based on pore length, velocity distribution, and Peclet number.
