The Impact of Lipid Handling and Phase Distribution on the Acoustic Behavior of Microbubbles

Summary: Phospholipid-coated microbubbles serve as ultrasound contrast agents for molecular imaging and drug delivery. The study found that microbubbles with cholesterol-modified lipid packing showed more buckle formation, lower elasticity and higher viscosity, indicating a significant impact on acoustic behavior. Indirectly produced DSPC microbubbles demonstrated more uniform response to ultrasound and are promising for future applications in molecular imaging and drug delivery.
