Vibration energy flow transmission in systems with Coulomb friction

Wei Dai et al.

Summary: The study reveals that dry friction in dynamic systems can suppress vibration response and dissipate vibrational energy at both low and high frequencies. Frictional contact at interfaces can increase force transmissibility and energy transfer, especially at high excitation frequencies.

Dynamic analysis of prestressed variable stiffness composite shell structures

Giuseppe Sciascia et al.

Summary: The design space for high-performance lightweight composite structures has expanded with the concept of variable stiffness. A multi-domain Ritz method is proposed for the analysis of prestressed variable stiffness laminated doubly-curved shell structures. The method shows great accuracy in predicting the dynamic response and reduces the number of variables required for computation.

Vibration transmission and power flow of laminated composite plates with inerter-based suppression configurations

Chendi Zhu et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the vibration transmission and power flow behavior of harmonically excited laminated composite plates with different inerter-based suppression configurations. The results show that fiber orientation and stacking sequences significantly impact power flow characteristics and dominant vibration transmission paths. Passive elements attached to the plate can modify its vibration response and transmission according to specific design requirements.

Experimental study on failure mechanisms of sandwich panels with multi-layered aluminum foam/UHMWPE laminate core under combined blast and fragments loading

Sipei Cai et al.

Summary: This study investigated the failure mechanisms of sandwich panels with multilayered aluminum foam/UHMWPE laminate cores under combined blast and fragments loading. The results showed that introducing UHMWPE laminate alleviated back face damage, while the density gradation of foam layers and incorporation of ceramic fiber felt had varying effects on back face damage. The sandwich panels suffered more destructive damage under combined loading compared to bare blast loading, with the configuration of UHMWPE laminate located at the bottom layer favored for comprehensive protection.

Vibration transmission and energy flow of impact oscillators with nonlinear motion constraints created by diamond-shaped linkage mechanism

Wei Dai et al.

Summary: This study investigates the dynamic behavior and vibration transmission of impact oscillators with nonlinear motion constraints. It was found that the use of nonlinear constraint can lead to higher response amplitudes but lower force transmissibility compared to linear constraints.

Vibration transmission and energy flow analysis of L-shaped laminated composite structure based on a substructure method

Chendi Zhu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the vibration power flow characteristics of a harmonically excited L-shaped laminated composite structure using a substructure-based power flow analysis method, exploring the influence of fiber orientations on vibration energy transfer paths and suggesting that fiber angles can be tailored for desired energy transmission paths.
