Numerical study of fatigue damage under random loading using rainflow cycle counting

Tayeb Kebir et al.

Summary: This scientific work aims to simulate fatigue damage under random loading by considering the mean stress effect on fatigue lifetime and using the rainflow counting technique to assess the fatigue damage. The study reveals that fatigue under random loading is based on concepts of constant loading with the addition of damage summation, and the damage of materials due to stress cycles depends on both alternating stress and mean stress. The simulation method for cycles counting allows quantifying hysteresis loops, even for small amplitude stresses.

Probabilistic fatigue model for cast alloys of aero engine applications

Govindarajan Narayanan

Summary: This study focuses on addressing the complexity involved in computing the fatigue life of casted structures with porosity effects in aero engine applications by introducing probabilistic models. The research provides a new probabilistic fatigue model approach for defining the realistic fatigue limit of casted structures with known porosity fractions.

Fatigue failure analysis of express freight sliding side covered wagon based on the rigid-flexibility model

Xiaoxue Liu et al.

Summary: The flexibility of the car body plays a crucial role in the fatigue life, with dynamic loading potentially causing fatigue cracks and failure. The study confirms the reliability of using RVRAP in anti-fatigue design of vehicles by investigating the influence of car body flexibility on fatigue failure evaluation.
