Arsenic (III) detection with underpotential deposition on gold

Yifei Zhang et al.

Summary: We have developed a new and sensitive stripping voltammetric method for the detection of As(III) in aqueous solution using gold macroelectrode or gold nanoparticle-modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE). The method is based on underpotential deposition (UPD) of As ad-atoms and provides linear responses within the range of 0.01 μM to 0.1 μM or 0.005 μM to 0.1 μM for gold macroelectrodes and gold nanoparticle-modified electrodes, respectively. The method shows practical value with clear and discernable signals even at low concentrations of As(III), meeting the WHO limit for drinking water.

Innovative strategy based on novel Ti3C2Tx MXenes nanoribbons/carbon nanotubes hybrids for anodic stripping voltammetry sensing of mercury ion

Yixuan Xia et al.

Summary: An innovative strategy without electrodeposition was proposed for the sensitive detection of mercury ion (Hg2+) using Ti3C2Tx MXenes nanoribbons/carbon nanotube (Ti3C2TxR/CNT) nanohybrids to modify the electrode. The Ti3C2TxR exhibits spontaneous adsorption and reduction capability towards Hg2+, making Hg2+ self-reduced and preconcentrated on the electrode surface. The Ti3C2TxR/CNT/GCE sensor showed excellent sensing performance for Hg2+ analysis.

Magnetic MWCNTs-dendrimer: A potential modifier for electrochemical evaluation of As (III) ions in real water samples

Mehdi Baghayeri et al.

Summary: This study presents the novel synthesis, characterisation, and application of magnetic multi-walled carbon nanotubes modified with polyamidoamine dendrimers as a highly sensitive and selective recognition element in sensor development for the electrochemical determination of As(III) in water matrices. The developed sensor showed high sensitivity and selectivity against possible interferents, with a limit of detection of 0.46 μg/L. Its suitability in spiked water samples was also discussed.
