Association of Intrinsic Capacity with Frailty, Physical Fitness and Adverse Health Outcomes in Community-Dwelling Older Adults

L. Tay et al.

Summary: Intrinsic capacity and frailty are complementary in advancing disability prevention. The study found that declining intrinsic capacity may occur before frailty becomes clinically manifest and is associated with health-related outcomes.

Thirty-second sit-to-stand test as an alternative for estimating peak oxygen uptake and 6-min walking distance in women with breast cancer: a cross-sectional study

Estibaliz Diaz-Balboa et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the validity of the 30-s sit-to-stand (30STS) test as a tool for estimating and stratifying peak oxygen uptake (VO2peak) and 6-min walking distance (6MWD) in women with breast cancer. The results showed that the number of repetitions in the 30STS test had moderate correlations with relative VO2peak, weak correlation with absolute VO2peak, and moderate correlation with 6MWD. The study concluded that the 30STS test can be a useful tool for estimating VO2peak and/or 6MWD in women with early-stage breast cancer.

Test-Retest Reliability of Five Times Sit to Stand Test (FTSST) in Adults: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Laura Munoz-Bermejo et al.

Summary: The Five Times Sit to Stand Test is a highly reliable tool for assessing lower limbs strength, balance control, and mobility in both healthy adults and those with pathologies. The test showed excellent reliability in assessing sitting and standing performance, lower limbs strength, and balance control in the meta-analysis.

Association of six-minute walk test distance with postoperative complications in non-cardiac surgery: a secondary analysis of a multicentre prospective cohort study

Ryan J. Ramos et al.

Summary: The study found that preoperative 6MWT distance is modestly associated with moderate or severe complications after inpatient non-cardiac surgery, but not with myocardial injury or 30-day death. Further research is needed to determine the optimal role of the 6MWT in preoperative risk stratification.

Changes in motor function and quality of life after surgery in patients with pancreatic cancer

Yuki Nakashima et al.

Summary: The study found that postoperative pancreatic cancer patients experienced significant decreases in motor function, including 6-minute walking distance, knee extension strength, and grip strength. The decrease in 6-minute walking distance was significantly associated with postoperative physical functioning in health-related quality of life.

Five-Repetition Sit-to-Stand Test Performance in Healthy Individuals : Reference Values and Predictors From 2 Prospective Cohorts

Anita M. Klukowska et al.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate reference values and factors influencing performance of the 5-repetition-sit-to-stand (5R-STS) test. The results showed that age, gender, BMI, height, and houseworker status were significantly associated with 5R-STS time, while anxiety and depression did not have a significant impact on performance.

Cardiorespiratory fitness and all-cause mortality in adults diagnosed with cancer systematic review and meta-analysis

Yasmin Ezzatvar et al.

Summary: This study found that high levels of cardiorespiratory fitness are associated with a reduced risk of all-cause mortality in adults diagnosed with cancer. Additionally, for every 1-MET increase in cardiorespiratory fitness, the risk of all-cause mortality decreases significantly. Age at baseline and length of follow-up did not significantly influence the risk estimates for all-cause mortality.
