Smart Spectrophotometric Method Development for Simultaneous Estimation of Antidiabetic Drugs in Formulations

Mahesh Attimarad et al.

Summary: Two simple rapid derivative spectrophotometric methods were developed for the analysis of vildagliptin and remogliflozin. Both methods showed good linearity and sensitivity, and the assay results of the formulation were in agreement with the labeled concentration.

Experimental Design Approach for Quantitative Expressions of Simultaneous Quantification of Two Binary Formulations Containing Remogliflozin and Gliptins by RP-HPLC

Mahesh Attimarad et al.

Summary: The aim of this study was to develop a fast RP-HPLC method for simultaneous measurement of two antidiabetic formulations under identical experimental conditions. The optimized method showed good precision, accuracy, and robustness. The findings demonstrated that experimental design can be successfully used to optimize chromatographic conditions with fewer runs.

Development and Validation of Green UV Derivative Spectrophotometric Methods for Simultaneous Determination Metformin and Remogliflozin from Formulation: Evaluation of Greenness

Mahesh Attimarad et al.

Summary: The recent trend in green analytical chemistry focuses on the development of environmentally friendly methods using green solvents, with three ecofriendly manipulated UV spectroscopic techniques validated for the quantification of REM and MET tablets. The methods showed good linearity, sensitivity, accuracy, and precision, and were found to be suitable for regular quality control of REM and MET formulation in laboratory prepared mixtures and tablets. The proposed approaches were simple, accurate, sensitive, economic, environmentally friendly, and evaluated as eco-friendly.

Sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 inhibitor therapy: mechanisms of action in heart failure

Shruti S. Joshi et al.

Summary: Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus are at higher risk for heart failure, but SGLT2 inhibitor therapies show promise in improving blood glucose control and reducing cardiovascular events. However, the mechanisms underlying these benefits are not fully understood, with recent proposals pointing to improvements in cardiomyocyte calcium handling and reduction in epicardial fat as potential explanations.

Renoprotective Effects of DPP-4 Inhibitors

Daiji Kawanami et al.

Summary: Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is the leading cause of end-stage renal disease (ESRD) globally. Dipeptidyl peptidase (DPP)-4 inhibitors are commonly used in treating patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) by reducing glucose levels through inhibition of incretin degradation. Clinical and experimental studies have shown that DPP-4 inhibitors have beneficial effects on DKD, independent of their glucose-lowering abilities, mediated by anti-fibrotic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-oxidative stress properties.

Summary: This study demonstrated that canagliflozin was more effective than teneligliptin in reducing multiple metabolic risks in Japanese patients with T2DM. Canagliflozin group showed a higher percentage of metabolic risk improvement and weight loss after 24 weeks compared to the teneligliptin group.
