The propagation of fibre-matrix interface debonding during CFRP edge milling process with the multi-teeth tool: A model analysis

Qihao Xu et al.

Summary: This paper provides a precise description of the mechanism behind fibre-matrix interface debonding during milling CFRP using a multi-teeth tool. The study reveals that the feed rate and tool radius have different impacts on the debonding degree, with tool radius having a greater influence.

New insights into the synergistic influence of voids and interphase characteristics on effective properties of unidirectional composites

Kui Wang et al.

Summary: This paper examines the impact of both matrix-pores and interphase-defects on the effective stiffness of unidirectional fiber-reinforced composites (UFRCs). A hierarchical modeling of porous UFRCs is established with an effective two-step homogenization scheme to study and validate the model. Parametric analyses provide new insights into the effect of pores on UFRCs.

Interfacial and mechanical properties of continuous ramie fiber reinforced biocomposites fabricated by in-situ impregnated 3D printing

Ping Cheng et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the mechanical properties and interfacial analysis of 3D printed continuous vegetal fiber reinforced biomass based composites. The results showed that the mechanical behaviors of the biocomposites were influenced by the interfacial properties between deposited layers and between fiber/matrix interfaces. By controlling the printing parameters, significant microstructure changes were observed in the biocomposites, leading to the highest tensile strength found at specific printing conditions.

Mechanical properties and shape memory effect of 4D printed cellular structure composite with a novel continuous fiber-reinforced printing path

Ke Dong et al.

Summary: A printing strategy for fabricating diverse geometries of cellular continuous fiber-reinforced composites with uniform fiber distribution and interlacement in the structure was proposed and studied. The effects of printing and structural parameters on mechanical properties and shape memory performance were investigated, and a Finite Element model was developed to analyze the tensile process. Adjustment of geometric parameters and fiber content was found to optimize the mechanical properties and shape memory effect of 3D-printed CFRCs.
