Fluorescein isothiocyanate, a platform for the selective and sensitive detection of S-Nitrosothiols and hydrogen sulfide

Mark N. Potter et al.

Summary: The fluorescence of FITC is unaffected by its reaction with primary amines, but is rapidly quenched by small molecular weight thiols. This property has been utilized to develop a sulfide-specific assay and a fluorogenic reagent for detecting picomol levels of RSNO. FDTC can be used as an intracellular RSNO sensor and visualize intracellular RSNO levels.

Reusable dual-functional SERS sensor based on gold nanoflowers-modified red phosphorus nanoplates for ultrasensitive immunoassay and degradation of CA19-9

Xiuting Li et al.

Summary: This study proposes a recyclable immunoassay method utilizing the synergistic effects of electromagnetic and chemical interactions, based on surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) technology, to detect tumor markers in clinical serum samples with high sensitivity. By growing sea-urchin-like gold nanoflowers on two-dimensional red phosphorus nanoplates, efficient enhancement of immunoassay, as well as stable photocatalytic and SERS activities, were achieved. With the combination of a non-metallic immunoprobe, the limit of detection for cancer antigen 19-9 was significantly reduced, demonstrating promising selectivity. These multifunctional red phosphorus/gold nanoflowers have great potential in early cancer detection and point-of-care diagnosis.
