Exposed edges of porous ultrathin WO3 nanosheets determined High-performance sensing for hydrogen sulfide

Xiang Li et al.

Summary: Porous two-dimensional WO3 nanosheets were synthesized and found to exhibit high sensitivity to H2S gas, with a response value 17 times higher than non-porous WO3 nanosheets. The study also revealed, for the first time, that the distinct structure pore edge has a positive influence on gas interaction through adsorption simulation using density functional theory. This work not only demonstrates the potential of WO3 PTNSs for H2S detection, but also clarifies the enhancement mechanism of edge effect on gas adsorption, providing a useful reference for applying porous nanosheets in gas sensors.

Adsorption of gas molecules of CH4, CO and H2O on the vanadium dioxide monolayer: computational method and model

Long Lin et al.

Summary: By using density functional theory calculations, the adsorption of CH4, CO and H2O molecules on sandwich vanadium dioxide nanosheets was studied. It was found that H2O had the highest adsorption energy on the VO2 surface, leading to significant changes in the electronic properties of the VO2 sheet. However, the strong adsorption of H2O hindered its application in gas molecular sensors due to difficulty in desorption.
