Switchable and compact dual-wavelength random fiber laser based on random Bragg grating array

Bing Lv et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates a switchable dual-wavelength random fiber laser (DW-RFL) with a compact structure and a low-threshold. A Fabry-Perot interferometer consisting of a pair of fiber Bragg gratings is used as a filter in the DW-RFL to select two lasing wavelengths. By utilizing a random Bragg grating array (RBGA) instead of long-distance single mode fiber, the threshold is reduced and the stability is improved. Wavelength selection and switching can be achieved by tuning the pump power. The proposed DW-RFL has potential applications in microwave or terahertz generation systems, optical sensing, coherent communication, and high-resolution measurements.

High Performance Fiber Laser Resonator for Dual Band (C and L) Sensing

Arturo Sanchez-Gonzalez et al.

Summary: This study presents an experimental analysis and comparison of using artificially controlled reflectors inscribed into a single-mode fiber as sensing mirrors in both C- and L-band. The performance of these reflectors showed similar results in terms of single-wavelength emission, single-longitudinal mode operation, and temperature and strain sensitivities in fiber laser sensing systems.

Microdrilled tapers to enhance optical fiber lasers for sensing

R. A. Perez-Herrera et al.

Summary: This study experimentally analyzed the performance of different types of quasi-randomly distributed reflectors inscribed into a single-mode fiber as a sensing mirror. The results showed that using a 50 μm waist micro-drilled tapered optical fiber as a reflector can achieve good laser output power and optical signal-to-noise ratio, as well as excellent temperature and strain sensitivity.

Single Longitudinal Mode Lasers by Using Artificially Controlled Backscattering Erbium Doped Fibers

Rosa Ana Perez-Herrera et al.

Summary: A new distributed short linear cavity fiber laser has been proposed and experimentally demonstrated, capable of generating switchable single longitudinal-mode laser emissions. By using a reflector doped with erbium as a saturable absorber, multiple single-mode emissions can be achieved.
