Portable two-color photometer based on paired light emitter detector diodes and its application to the determination of paraquat and diquat

Sasikarn Seetasang et al.

Summary: A newly developed portable photometer equipped with two colors of paired light emitter detector diodes (PEDD) was used for the determination of paraquat and diquat radicals. The colorimetric measurements employed redox reactions to produce characteristic colors for diquat and paraquat radicals. The proposed methodology showed excellent linear regression and precision, proving its reliability in comparison with the standard method of high-performance liquid chromatography.

Smartphone-based optical analysis systems

Sarah Di Nonno et al.

Summary: In recent decades, there has been a growing trend towards the use of smartphone-based analysis systems, mainly due to the ubiquity of smartphones, their increasing computing capacity, their relatively low cost, and the ability to acquire and process data simultaneously. Smartphone integrated sensors, such as CMOS sensors, enable optical analysis methods like colorimeters, photometers, and spectrometers. This review explores the state-of-the-art smartphone-based optical analysis systems in various applications, organized into three sections focusing on colorimeters, photo- and spectrometers, and fluorimeters.
