Purification of granular sediments from wastewater using a novel hydrocyclone

Feng Li et al.

Summary: A novel hydrocyclone with bi-symmetrical involue inlet, thick-wall overflow pipes and conical segment structure was designed and compared with other hydrocyclones. Numerical analysis showed that the flow field in the novel hydrocyclone is more stable, resulting in a significant increase in impurity removal efficiency. The tangential velocity, the axial velocity and the pressure also increased significantly when using the novel hydrocyclone, leading to a reduced number of dislocated particles and enhanced recovery ratio of fine particles.
