Low Serum Klotho Associated With All-cause Mortality Among a Nationally Representative Sample of American Adults

Jacob K. Kresovich et al.

Summary: In this study, it was found that low serum klotho concentrations were associated with a 31% higher risk of mortality, particularly in relation to heart disease or cancer. Additionally, low serum klotho levels were more strongly linked to mortality among individuals who did not meet physical activity guidelines.

Epigenetic and non-epigenetic regulation of Klotho in kidney disease

Ajinath Kale et al.

Summary: Klotho is a novel anti-aging protein expressed at highest levels in the kidney, with its regulation contributing to kidney disease progression. Levels of Klotho decrease during kidney injury and other diseases, but supplementation or overexpression can attenuate kidney disease. Various epigenetic and non-epigenetic mechanisms regulate Klotho expression, with natural products showing potential in this regulation.

Klotho and SIRT1 changes from pre-diabetes to diabetes and pre-hypertension to hypertension

Mahboobeh Yeganeh-Hajahmadi et al.

Summary: The serum levels of Klotho and SIRT1 fluctuate in pre-diabetic and pre-hypertensive individuals, but return to normal as the diseases progress. There is a negative correlation between Klotho and SIRT1 with FBS in the physiological range, which turns into a U-shaped correlation with the addition of pathological ranges. Additionally, there is an overall positive relationship between the serum levels of Klotho and SIRT1 themselves.

Impact of a single bout of resistance exercise on serum Klotho in healthy young men

Takuma Morishima et al.

Summary: The study investigated the impact of acute resistance exercise on serum Klotho levels and found a significant increase post-exercise. However, this increase was not associated with the acute reduction in endothelial function as measured by FMD. A significant positive correlation was observed between Klotho and ET-1 responses to resistance exercise.

Health repercussions of environmental exposure to lead: Methylation perspective

Sadiya Sadiq Shiek et al.

Summary: Lead exposure poses a significant public health concern with permanent adverse effects on the human body, including alterations at the epigenome-wide level leading to the development of various human disorders. Research has shown that lead, as a harmful substance, not only causes immediate health consequences but also passes on its harmful effects to future generations.
