Single-Cell Genomics-Based Molecular Algorithm for Early Cancer Detection

Zhuo Wang et al.

Summary: Liquid biopsy allows for the detection of tumor-derived cells and molecular markers in a noninvasive way. However, it does not provide a definitive cancer diagnosis. To address this issue, a molecular algorithm called scCancerDx has been developed to confirm cell malignancy based on single-cell copy number alternations. The algorithm has been trained and validated using normal cells, cancer cell lines, and clinical samples.

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon and its effects on human health: An overeview

Manthar Ali Mallah et al.

Summary: Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are chemical contaminants of environmental significance. PAH pollution mainly comes from anthropogenic sources and can pose a significant threat to human health. Long-term exposure to PAHs can lead to tumor development in multiple organs and increase the risk of lung cancer and cardiovascular diseases. Studies have shown a relationship between PAH exposure, oxidative stress, and atherosclerosis.

Carcinogenic biomarkers of exposure in the urine of heated tobacco product users associated with bladder cancer: A systematic review

Christopher Svendsen et al.

Summary: This study aims to identify biomarkers of exposure associated with bladder cancer in heated tobacco product (HTP) users' urine. The findings showed that biomarkers of exposure to bladder carcinogens are present in the urine of HTP users, although at lower levels than combustible cigarette users. Further long-term study is needed to determine the bladder cancer risk of HTP use.

Exposure to benzo(a)pyrene from juvenile period to peripubertal impairs male reproductive parameters in adult rats

Barbara Campos Jorge et al.

Summary: BaP exposure during the prepubertal period negatively impacted the reproductive parameters in adult male rats, leading to compromised copulatory behavior, reduced sperm quality and quantity, and histopathological changes in testicular tissue. A comprehensive risk assessment of prepubertal BaP exposure is necessary to understand its long-term effects on male reproductive health.

Elzbieta Cecerska-Heryc et al.

Summary: Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are significant in human cells, with antioxidant enzymes playing a crucial role in maintaining balance and diagnosing neoplastic diseases. Lowered activity of SOD, CAT, and GPx is characteristic of various cancers, making SOD, CAT, and XOR promising prognostic markers in lung, bladder, ovarian, and colon cancer.

Association Between Estrogen Receptors and GATA3 in Bladder Cancer: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Their Clinicopathological Significance

Carina Bernardo et al.

Summary: This meta-analysis investigated the association between ERα, ERβ, and GATA3 expression in bladder cancer. GATA3 was identified as a good prognostic marker, while ERα was associated with higher grade tumors and inversely correlated with GATA3 expression. Comprehensive analysis of ERα and ERβ expression in BlaCa is needed to identify subtypes and patient groups that may benefit from hormonal therapy.
