Effects of antimony on anaerobic methane oxidization and microbial community in an antimony-contaminated paddy soil: A microcosm study

Miaomiao Zhang et al.

Summary: The study showed that Sb contamination inhibits AOM in paddy soils and affects the diversity and composition of microbial communities. Addition of Sb in paddy soil results in significant changes in the abundance and diversity of methanotrophs.

Enhancing methanogenic fermentation of waste activated sludge via isoelectric-point pretreatment: Insights from interfacial thermodynamics, electron transfer and microbial community

Ying Xu et al.

Summary: The study revealed that the efficiency of methane generation from waste activated sludge (WAS) can be significantly enhanced through pretreatment with isoelectric-point (pI), which improves the hydrophobic attractions at the solid-liquid interface and promotes electron transfer efficiency. The pI pretreatment also led to an increase in the relative abundances of main functional microbes related to hydrolysis, acidification, and methanation, contributing to an overall boost in methane production.
