A drug delivery system with red fluorescence for the delivery and release of 5-fluorouracil in vitro

Xingxing Qiu et al.

Summary: A drug delivery system with red fluorescence based on Eu3+-doped ZnAl-LDH is developed for the delivery and release of the anticancer drug 5-fluorouracil (5-Fu). The release of 5-Fu exhibits rapid and slow release stages, and the red fluorescence change can be used for real-time monitoring of the drug delivery and release.

Er3+-doped ZnAl-LDH with near-infrared emissions used for the delivery and release of 5-fluorouracil in vitro

Siyu Yin et al.

Summary: Er3+-doped zinc-aluminum layered double hydroxide (Er3+-doped ZnAl-LDH) has been studied as a delivery and release system for 5-fluorouracil (5-Fu), an anticancer drug. Successful intercalation of 5-Fu into the interlayer of Er3+-doped ZnAl-LDH was achieved, and the release of 5-Fu was controlled. The near-infrared emissions of Er3+-doped ZnAl-LDH were reduced upon intercalation and recovered after release, suggesting a potential marking technique for drug delivery.
