The impact of economic policy uncertainty on corporate social responsibility: A new evidence from food industry in China

Fang Su et al.

Summary: This paper examines the influence of China's macroeconomic policy uncertainty on corporate social responsibility by studying the practice of food enterprises in China's A-share listed companies from 2009 to 2018. The results show that economic policy uncertainty has a negative effect on the social responsibility of food enterprises, especially for non-state-owned enterprises. Additionally, in the case of greater economic policy uncertainty, food enterprises with stronger market connections tend to be more conservative in their corporate social responsibility practices.
