Bismuth modified gamma radiation shielding properties of titanium vanadium sodium tellurite glasses as a potent transparent radiation-resistant glass applications

M. H. M. Zaid et al.

Summary: This study reported the radiation shielding characteristics of bismuth titanium vanadium sodium tellurite glass system, showing that the addition of Bi2O3 can enhance the radiation shielding effect by increasing the density of glass samples. The glass sample with 20 mol.% of Bi2O3 content exhibited the best radiation attenuation performance among the selected glasses.

Neutron shielding evaluation of concretes and mortars: A review

Tomasz Piotrowski

Summary: This research presents a complex method for evaluating the shielding efficiency of concretes and mortars used in biological shields against ionizing radiation, particularly against neutrons. The study showed that material modification by polymers, gadolinium, and boron compounds can significantly enhance thermal neutron absorption, which is important for designing tailored shielding concrete in the future.
