Effects of JL13, a pyridobenzoxazepine compound, in dopaminergic and glutamatergic models of antipsychotic activity

Yane C. P. Andrade et al.

Summary: JL13, a novel pyridobenzoxazepine compound, shows potential as an antipsychotic drug by preventing hyperlocomotion induced by dopamine and glutamate modulators in animal models. It also demonstrates efficacy in preventing disruption of PPI caused by MK-801. This compound possesses a favorable pharmacological profile similar to second-generation antipsychotics.

Decreased Brain pH and Pathophysiology in Schizophrenia

Hae-Jeong Park et al.

Summary: Postmortem studies have shown that schizophrenia patients have lower brain pH levels, with implications for the role of this phenomenon in disease progression being discussed in depth. Changes in mitochondrial morphology and function in schizophrenia patients may contribute to abnormal metabolism. Alterations in pH levels could have effects on neuronal activity and pathophysiology.
