Prevalence of metabolic syndrome and its associated risk factors among staffs in a Malaysian public university

Summary: This study conducted among staffs in a Malaysian public university found an overall MetS prevalence of 20.6%, with higher rates in men than women, and increasing with age. Risk factors such as BMI, hypertension, diabetes, and moderate physical activity were associated with MetS across genders. Lifestyle behaviors and cardio-metabolic risk factors were also linked to MetS in the overall sample.
