The SlWRKY81 transcription factor inhibits stomatal closure by attenuating nitric oxide accumulation in the guard cells of tomato under drought

Golam Jalal Ahammed et al.

Summary: The WRKY transcription factor SlWRKY81 negatively regulates tomato tolerance to drought by influencing stomatal movement and reducing leaf water loss under drought stress. Silencing SlWRKY81 alleviates drought-induced damage and inhibits water loss in tomato leaves.

Transcription factor ZmPLATZ2 positively regulate the starch synthesis in maize

Hui Li et al.

Summary: The study identified ZmPLATZ2 as a transcription factor related to starch synthesis in maize, playing a crucial role in improving maize yield and quality. ZmPLATZ2 showed high expression in the endosperm and peaked at 12 days after pollination. It can bind to the promoters of multiple starch synthesis genes to enhance their expression.

NAC Transcription Factor PwNAC11 Activates ERD1 by Interaction with ABF3 and DREB2A to Enhance Drought Tolerance in Transgenic Arabidopsis

Mingxin Yu et al.

Summary: The NAC transcription factor PwNAC11 plays a key role in regulating drought stress in Picea wilsonii, activating downstream genes through interacting with ABA-responsive elements. Overexpression of PwNAC11 in Arabidopsis enhances drought tolerance but delays flowering time. Additionally, PwNAC11 interacts with ABA-induced protein ABF3 and DREB2A to synergistically regulate stress response pathways.

A bamboo leaf-specific aquaporin gene PePIP2;7 is involved in abiotic stress response

Huayu Sun et al.

Summary: PePIP2;7, a leaf-specific aquaporin gene in bamboo, is upregulated under abiotic stresses and plays a crucial role in stress response. Its differential expression in different parts of bamboo leaves suggests involvement in water transport and leaf unfolding processes.

Identification and characterisation of monovalent cation/proton antiporters (CPAs) in Phyllostachys edulis and the functional analysis of PheNHX2 in Arabidopsis thaliana

Lin Wu et al.

Summary: Plant monovalent cation/proton antiporters (CPAs) play important roles in salt stress resistance. In this study, the expression profiles and function of 10 PheNHXs genes from moso bamboo were investigated. Overexpression of PheNHX2 reduced salt tolerance in transgenic Arabidopsis, affecting seed germination, root growth, and cellular ion content. These results provide insights into the regulation of salt tolerance in moso bamboo.

TMK1-based auxin signaling regulates abscisic acid responses via phosphorylating ABI1/2 in Arabidopsis

Jie Yang et al.

Summary: High concentrations of auxin enhance abscisic acid (ABA) responses in Arabidopsis thaliana, partially mediated by TRANS-MEMBERANE KINASE 1 (TMK1). TMK1 plays a positive role in ABA signaling by regulating ABI1/2. TMK1 inhibits the phosphatase activity of ABI2 by directly phosphorylating a specific site, leading to its involvement in both auxin and ABA responses.

A regulatory network driving shoot lignification in rapidly growing bamboo

Kebin Yang et al.

Summary: An integrated analysis was conducted to study the regulatory mechanism of lignification in moso bamboo, revealing upregulated genes associated with cell wall and lignin biosynthesis and a regulatory network including miRNAs, transcription factors, and enzyme genes. Overexpression of PeLAC20 in transgenic Arabidopsis plants increased lignin content, suggesting the involvement of a reliable miRNA-mediated MYB-PeLAC20 module in lignin monomer polymerization. Our findings provide insights into the genetic regulation of bamboo lignification and potential strategies for improving bamboo timber properties.
