MDP25 mediates the fine-tuning of microtubule organization in response to salt stress

Peizhi Yang et al.

Summary: Microtubule-destabilizing protein 25 (MDP25) plays a crucial role in regulating microtubule organization under salt stress in Arabidopsis. Under salt treatment, elevated calcium ion concentration causes MDP25 to dissociate from the plasma membrane, leading to microtubule depolymerization. Knockout of MDP25 improves microtubule reassembly and enhances microtubule recovery after salt stress, resulting in higher survival rates.

Binding of 14-3-3κ to ADF4 is involved in the regulation of hypocotyl growth and response to osmotic stress in Arabidopsis

Huan Yao et al.

Summary: The study reveals the specific interaction between 14-3-3 kappa and ADF4, which is involved in plant growth and response to stress. ADF4 plays a negative regulatory role in osmotic stress response, and its association with actin filaments is inhibited by binding with 14-3-3 kappa. These findings highlight the importance of the interaction between 14-3-3 kappa and ADF4 in regulating plant growth and tolerance.

GhVLN4 is involved in multiple stress responses and required for resistance to Verticillium wilt

Dongdong Ge et al.

Summary: Villins play important roles in plant growth and development, as well as stress tolerance. GhVLN4 is involved in multiple stress and hormone responses and signaling, enhancing resistance to Verticillium dahliae, salt, and drought. GhVLN4 may regulate plant tolerance to both biotic and abiotic stresses by upregulating components in various signaling pathways.

Regulation of cytoskeleton-associated protein activities: Linking cellular signals to plant cytoskeletal function

Na Lian et al.

Summary: The plant cytoskeleton undergoes dynamic remodeling in response to developmental and environmental cues, with microtubule-associated proteins and actin-binding proteins playing key roles in modulating cytoskeletal behavior. The activities and levels of MAPs and ABPs are precisely regulated during development and environmental responses, but our understanding of this process remains limited.

Abiotic Stress-Induced Actin-Depolymerizing Factor 3 From Deschampsia antarctica Enhanced Cold Tolerance When Constitutively Expressed in Rice

Mi Young Byun et al.

Summary: The Antarctic flowering plant Deschampsia antarctica is highly sensitive to climate change and has shown rapid population increases during regional warming. The molecular mechanisms of its responses to environmental changes remain poorly understood. By investigating the functions of actin depolymerizing factor (ADF) in this species, it was found that DaADF3 played an important role in enhancing cold tolerance in transgenic rice plants and in the adaptation of D. antarctica to extreme environments. This suggests potential applications for improving cold tolerance in crops.

Actin Isovariant ACT7 Modulates Root Thermomorphogenesis by Altering Intracellular Auxin Homeostasis

Sumaya Parveen et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the important role of the vegetative class actin isovariant ACT7 in regulating the response of Arabidopsis roots to moderate to high temperatures. Loss of ACT7 resulted in increased inhibition of root elongation, reduced cell production rate and cell elongation, and altered dynamics of actin in response to prolonged moderate to high temperatures. This suggests that ACT7 modulates the long-term response of Arabidopsis roots to moderate to high temperatures.

Microtubule Dynamics Plays a Vital Role in Plant Adaptation and Tolerance to Salt Stress

Hyun Jin Chun et al.

Summary: Our study found 50 differentially expressed proteins in salt-adapted cells, mainly related to cell structure, including cytoskeleton and cell wall biogenesis. Gene expression analysis revealed significant induction of cytoskeleton and cell wall biogenesis-related genes in salt-adapted cells. The results suggest that microtubules play crucial roles in plant adaptation and tolerance to salt stress.

Cytoskeletal regulation of primary plant cell wall assembly

Youssef Chebli et al.

Summary: The plant cell wall serves as an important extracellular matrix that envelops cells, maintains their shape and structure, interacts with symbionts, and protects against external stresses. The assembly of this matrix is regulated by the cytoskeleton, which also plays a key role in perceiving mechanical cues and mediating intracellular responses related to cell wall structure changes. Delivery processes of cell wall precursors and their structural continuity are crucial for cell wall assembly, with various morphogenetic processes relying on cell wall assembly as a critical element.

HSP70-3 Interacts with Phospholipase Dδ and Participates in Heat Stress Defense

Ping Song et al.

Summary: The study explored the role of cytosolic HSP70-3 in plant stress responses and its interaction with PM-localized phospholipase D delta in Arabidopsis. Results demonstrate that HSP70-3 stabilizes cortical microtubules under heat stress and inhibits PLD delta activity to mediate microtubule reorganization and thermotolerance, highlighting a regulatory mechanism for membrane lipid metabolism during plant stress responses.
