Hemodynamic maladaptation and left ventricular dysfunction in chronic hypertensive patients at the beginning of gestation and pregnancy complications: a case control study

Herbert Valensise et al.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the relationship between cardiovascular health and cardiac function during early pregnancy and the development of complications in chronic hypertensive patients. The results showed that patients with complications had abnormal cardiac indices in early pregnancy, including heart rate, cardiac output, vascular resistance, and left ventricular morphology. In addition, diastolic and systolic function were also affected. These findings suggest that early assessment of cardiovascular parameters during early pregnancy can help predict the development of complications in hypertensive patients.

Maternal peripheral vascular resistance at mid gestation in chronic hypertension as a predictor of fetal growth restriction

Barbara Vasapollo et al.

Summary: This study found a strong relationship between maternal hemodynamics as expressed by PVR at mid gestation and fetal growth at delivery in chronic hypertension. PVR at mid gestation was strongly correlated with birthweight at delivery and the diagnosis of fetal growth restriction. This finding highlights the importance of maternal hemodynamics for identifying chronic hypertensive patients at risk for developing fetal growth restriction.

Maternal cardiovascular potential and kinetic energy indices in pre-eclamptic and small-for-gestational-age pregnancies

J. Gutierrez Henares et al.

Summary: Objective non-invasive assessment of maternal cardiovascular potential and kinetic energy using PKR and SMII may help distinguish pregnancies affected by specific placental disorders and those exhibiting healthy cardiovascular adaptation to pregnancy. Women with HDP and/or SGA have distinctive PKR and SMII profiles, reflecting low kinetic energy in pregnancies with SGA and high potential energy in pregnancies affected by HDP. Non-invasive assessment of potential and kinetic cardiovascular energy demonstrates high-flow and low-resistance adaptation in uncomplicated pregnancies.

Friendly help for clinical use of maternal hemodynamics

Herbert Valensise et al.

Summary: This study aimed to create a graphing technique to evaluate six main hemodynamic parameters simultaneously, helping physicians easily understand the hemodynamic status of pregnant women. By using radar chart to display multivariate data of hemodynamic measurements in pregnant women, it is possible to better understand the hemodynamic changes during pregnancy.
