High-precision measurement of the W boson mass with the CDF II detector

T. Aaltonen et al.

Summary: This study measured the mass of the W boson and compared it with the expectation of the standard model of particle physics. The results show a significant discrepancy between the measured value and the expectation.

The new MUON G-2 result and supersymmetry

Manimala Chakraborti et al.

Summary: The electroweak sector of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with the lightest neutralino as a Dark Matter candidate can explain various experimental data, including DM content of the universe and EW SUSY searches at the LHC. The recently published MUON G-2 result is in agreement with the older BNL result, providing a new deviation from the Standard Model prediction of 4.2 sigma. This indicates updated upper limits on the allowed parameter space of the EW sector of the MSSM.

A new measurement of the Hubble constant using Type la supernovae calibrated with surface brightness fluctuations

Nandita Khetan et al.

Summary: A new calibration method for the peak absolute magnitude of SNe Ia based on the SBF method was proposed, with a sample of 96 SNe Ia calibrated and the value of the Hubble constant estimated. Results showed that SNe Ia distance moduli calibrated with SBF are on average larger by 0.07 mag than those calibrated with Cepheids, indicating possible differences among SNe in different types of galaxies.

Electroweak phase transition in acomplex singlet extension of the Standard Model with degenerate scalars

Gi-Chol Cho et al.

Summary: The study examines the feasibility of strong first-order electroweak phase transition in a degenerate-scalar scenario of a complex singlet extension of the Standard Model, and explores how to achieve this phase transition by circumventing constraints from dark matter.

Leading hadronic contribution to the muon magnetic moment from lattice QCD

Sz. Borsanyi et al.

Summary: The standard model of particle physics describes the majority of experiments and observations involving elementary particles, with a long-standing discrepancy concerning the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon. Ongoing experiments aim to reduce measurement errors, theoretically attributed to the leading-order hadronic vacuum polarization contribution, to distinguish between experimental measurements and predictions. The developed methods using ab initio quantum chromodynamics and quantum electrodynamics simulations favor experimentally measured values over those obtained using dispersion methods, with potential for increased precision as computer technology advances.

Measurement of the Positive Muon Anomalous Magnetic Moment to 0.46 ppm

B. Abi et al.

Summary: The experiment presented the first results of the Fermilab National Accelerator Laboratory (FNAL) Muon g - 2 Experiment for the positive muon magnetic anomaly a(mu) (g(mu) - 2)/2, which determined the anomaly from precision measurements of two angular frequencies. The result showed a deviation of 3.3 standard deviations from the standard model prediction, in agreement with previous measurements, increasing the tension between experiment and theory.

Dark Photon and Muon g-2 Inspired Inelastic Dark Matter Models at the High-Energy Intensity Frontier

Yu-Dai Tsai et al.

Summary: The research team studies hidden-sector particles in past, present, and future experiments, focusing on the minimal vector portal and next-to-minimal models, as well as inelastic dark matter. They demonstrate the power of proton fixed-target experiments as strong probes in the mass range of these models, setting limits and making projections based on various experiments. The studies also motivate the development of LongQuest as a multipurpose machine for exploring new physics.

Hadronic light-by-light contribution to (g-2)μ from lattice QCD: a complete calculation

Summary: Using lattice QCD, direct calculations of hadronic light-by-light scattering for the muon g-2 suggest that it cannot explain the current tension between theory and experiment, with results consistent with current estimates and previous lattice determinations.

Probing a degenerate-scalar scenario in a pseudoscalar dark-matter model

Sachiho Abe et al.

Summary: In this study, a pseudoscalar dark matter model from a complex singlet extension of the standard model is analyzed. It is found that dark-matter nucleon scattering is suppressed when two CP-even scalars are degenerate. The possibility of verifying this scenario using the recoil-mass technique at the International Linear Collider is also discussed.
