Angular Goos-Hanchen Shift Sensor Using a Gold Film Enhanced by Surface Plasmon Resonance

Cherrie May Olaya et al.

Summary: In this study, surface plasmon resonance (SPR) was used to enhance the angular Goos-Hanchen (GH) shift. By focusing the incident beam to a small beam waist, a significant increase in the angular GH shift was induced, while the spatial GH shift was negligible. Despite decreased efficiency in surface plasmon excitation due to the focused geometry, a large enhancement in the angular GH shift was demonstrated.

Ultrasensitive Optical Temperature Transducers Based on Surface Plasmon Resonance Enhanced Composited Goos-Hanchen and Imbert-Fedorov Shifts

Yi Xu et al.

Summary: The study investigates the temperature-dependent composite Goos-Hanchen and Imbert-Fedorov shifts for a light beam reflected from a lossy surface. The results demonstrate the significant enhancement of spatial and angular shifts around the resonant angle, leading to ultrahigh temperature sensitivities. The importance of angular shift effect in achieving ultrahigh sensitivity is highlighted in the research, providing guidance for the design of sensors based on composite shifts.

Molecular Monolayer Sensing Using Surface Plasmon Resonance and Angular Goos-Hanchen Shift

Cherrie May Olaya et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates potential molecular monolayer detection through measurements of surface plasmon resonance and angular Goos-Hanchen shift. The presence of a benzenethiol self-assembled monolayer on a gold substrate enhances the Goos-Hanchen shift, dominated by angular shift.
