Direct neutrino-mass measurement with sub-electronvolt sensitivity

M. Aker et al.

Summary: This article reports on the upper limits of the effective electron anti-neutrino mass from the second physics run of the Karlsruhe Tritium Neutrino experiment. Using a high-precision measurement of the tritium beta-decay spectrum, independent of cosmological models and particle assumptions, the sensitivity and upper limit of the neutrino mass were determined.

Neutrino Flavor Conversions in High-Density Astrophysical and Cosmological Environments

Francesco Capozzi et al.

Summary: This review summarizes the challenging open problem of neutrino flavor conversions in dense astrophysical environments, highlighting its theoretical and phenomenological implications in cosmology and astrophysics. The focus is on three environments: early Universe, core-collapse supernovae, and compact binary mergers.

Simulating low-energy neutrino interactions with MARLEY

Steven Gardiner

Summary: Monte Carlo event generators are crucial for interpreting neutrino experiment data, but challenges in applying existing generators to lower energy scales exist due to theoretical modeling differences. The new event generator MARLEY is designed to better address the simulation needs of the low-energy neutrino community, with extensibility and an interface to the ROOT data analysis framework.

Emergent Dark Energy, neutrinos and cosmological tensions

Weiqiang Yang et al.

Summary: The article introduces the Phenomenologically Emergent Dark Energy model and discusses the potential impact of including massive neutrinos and extra relativistic species. Through extensive cosmological observations, it is found that there may be a non-zero neutrino mass. The Hubble constant tension is somewhat alleviated, but still remains below the 2 sigma level of significance.

2020 global reassessment of the neutrino oscillation picture

P. F. de Salas et al.

Summary: The latest global fit analysis of neutrino oscillation data provides more accurate measurements of theta(13), theta(12), Delta m212, and Delta m312 and suggests a preference for the second octant in the atmospheric angle theta(23) with statistical significance. Cosmological measurements show a clear preference for the normal neutrino mass ordering.

Supernova neutrino burst detection with the deep underground neutrino experiment

R. Acciarri et al.

Summary: The DUNE experiment, a 40-kton underground liquid argon time projection chamber, will be sensitive to the electron-neutrino flavor component of the burst of neutrinos expected from the next Galactic core-collapse supernova. This observation will provide unique insight into the astrophysics of core collapse as well as into the properties of neutrinos. The general capabilities of DUNE for neutrino detection in the relevant few- to few-tens-of-MeV neutrino energy range will be described, with a focus on constraining the nu(e) spectral parameters of the neutrino burst.

New Developments in Flavor Evolution of a Dense Neutrino Gas

Irene Tamborra et al.

Summary: Neutrino-neutrino refraction plays a key role in flavor evolution in core-collapse supernovae, neutron star mergers, and the early Universe. Pairwise neutrino scattering can lead to collective flavor conversions, regulated by the neutrino number density and angular distributions of electron neutrinos and antineutrinos. Fast pairwise conversions, often overlooked, could impact the hydrodynamics of astrophysical sources and the synthesis of heavy elements near the neutrino decoupling region.

Reconstruction of the neutrino mass as a function of redshift

Christiane S. Lorenz et al.

Summary: The study reconstructed the neutrino mass as a function of redshift using different prior methods, finding a larger upper limit for the neutrino mass at low redshifts. The results were converted into cosmological limits for models with nonrelativistic neutrino decay, showing that the limits would be beyond reach for the KATRIN experiment.

Unfinished fabric of the three neutrino paradigm

Francesco Capozzi et al.

Summary: The current third paradigm involves oscillation and non-oscillation data analysis of neutrinos, constraining parameters such as mixing angles, CP-violating phase, and mass differences, highlighting the concordance or discordance among different constraints. Measurements consistently show hints of normal mass ordering and specific ranges for certain parameters, with tensions among different datasets.

Most constraining cosmological neutrino mass bounds

Eleonora Di Valentino et al.

Summary: By utilizing the most recent cosmological data sets, we have established the most constraining upper limit on neutrino mass to date, setting it at 0.09 eV at 95% confidence level. This challenges the viability of the inverted mass ordering as the underlying neutrino mass pattern. The results further support the use of large multitracer spectroscopic surveys as unique laboratories for studying cosmological relics like neutrinos.

Touch of neutrinos on the vacuum metamorphosis: Is the H0 solution back?

Eleonora Di Valentino et al.

Summary: This study explores tensions in the measurements of expansion rate and matter clustering in the universe by extending the neutrino sector and considering the curvature of the universe as a model parameter. The inclusion of massive neutrinos and extra relativistic species did not significantly affect the results, with the physically motivated VM model producing consistent values for H-0 and S-8.
