Modeling of process and analysis of drying characteristics for natural TiO2 under microwave heating

Hewen Zheng et al.

Summary: This paper discusses the factors affecting the microwave drying characteristics of rutile TiO2 and fits the data with nine common thin layers drying kinetic models. The results show that the drying efficiency of rutile TiO2 is positively related to microwave power, initial moisture content, and initial mass. The Modified Page model agrees well with the experimental data and provides a theoretical and scientific basis for the application of microwave drying techniques in the metallurgy and chemical industry.

Effect of Susceptors on Joining of AA6061-T6 to AZ31B by Microwave Hybrid Heating

S. Tamang et al.

Summary: The study investigated the joining of AA6061-T6 to AZ31B using zinc powder and microwave hybrid heating, which hindered the formation of Al-Mg intermetallic compounds and achieved a good metallurgical joint. The use of graphite susceptors resulted in faster joint formation compared to activated charcoal, but formed an irregular reaction zone.

Phase stability and microstructure morphology of microwave-sintered magnesia-partially stabilised zirconia

Guo Chen et al.

Summary: This study introduced microwave heating into the preparation process of zirconia materials to improve stability and microstructure of MgO-partially stabilised zirconia (MgO-PSZ). The effects of microwave heating on phase stability, microstructure, and surface morphology were evaluated, showing that microwave treatment significantly increased the stability rate of MgO-PSZ sample. Additionally, a decrease in m-ZrO2 phase content and improvement in microstructure were observed in the microwave-sintered MgO-PSZ sample. This research provided optimal microwave heating conditions for enhanced performance of MgO-PSZ material and laid a foundation for further research on zirconia materials prepared using microwave heating technology.
