Deep learning-based segmentation of knee MRI for fully automatic subregional morphological assessment of cartilage tissues: Data from the Osteoarthritis Initiative

Egor Panfilov et al.

Summary: This study introduces a fully automatic method for segmentation and subregional assessment of articular cartilage using MRI, evaluating its predictive power in osteoarthritis progression. The results show high correlation and agreement in volumetric measurements, as well as effective extraction of cartilage-related imaging biomarkers for osteoarthritis progression studies.

Treatment after ACL injury: Panther Symposium ACL Treatment Consensus Group

Theresa Anita Diermeier et al.

Summary: Treatment strategies for ACL injuries are evolving and based on low-level evidence, with an international consensus group reaching agreement on operative versus non-operative treatment for ACL injuries. Consensus was reached on 11 of 13 statements at the Symposium, recommending early anatomical ACL reconstruction for highly active patients, while non-operative treatment is acceptable for patients returning to straight plane activities. Consensus statements may assist clinicians in deciding between operative and non-operative treatment options for patients after an ACL injury.

T2 mapping of healthy knee cartilage: multicenter multivendor reproducibility

Joost Verschueren et al.

Summary: This study found that T-2 mapping can be used for quantifying cartilage degeneration in a multicenter setting with good longitudinal reproducibility. There were evident differences in T-2 values across centers, both in vivo and in phantom scans, suggesting that absolute T-2 values from different centers should not be pooled in multicenter trials.

The QIBA Profile for MRI-based Compositional Imaging of Knee Cartilage

Majid Chalian et al.

Summary: MRI-based cartilage compositional analysis allows early detection of biochemical and microstructural changes in osteoarthritis before visible changes occur. While T2 mapping is currently the only commercially available technique, the Quantitative Imaging Biomarkers Alliance (QIBA) Profile aims to improve reproducibility and standardize cartilage compositional imaging.
