A Near-Infrared Absorbing and Emissive Quadruple Helicene Enabled by the Scholl Reaction of Perylene

Summary: In this study, the synthesis, structural analysis, and optical properties of a novel quadruple helicene were reported. The quadruple helicene consists of two [6]helicene and two [7]helicene moieties fused in a contorted framework of 92 sp(2) carbon atoms. The chemically oxidized dication exhibits electronic circular dichroism in the near-infrared and visible-light regions.

Recent advances in dopant-free organic hole-transporting materials for efficient, stable and low-cost perovskite solar cells

Summary: This article reviews the significant progress of dopant-free hole transporting materials (HTMs) for perovskite solar cells (PSCs) in the past decade. Two HTMs, Spiro-OMeTAD and PTAA, have achieved state-of-the-art performance in PSCs, but they have drawbacks in terms of commercialization. Therefore, recent attention has been focused on dopant-free HTMs, and this review classifies them based on different perovskite materials, highlighting their potential for commercial applications.

Researchers have successfully constructed a robust interface for perovskite films through mixed-dimensional engineering, reducing the number of defect states and increasing the lifetime of photocarriers. The introduction of a one-dimensional capping layer also acts as a diffusion barrier and protects the vulnerable perovskite against moisture. Perovskite solar cells based on stacked one-dimensional/three-dimensional structures exhibit high efficiency and stability, surpassing the performance of three-dimensional devices.
