A One-Pot Approach for Bio-Based Arylamines via a Combined Photooxidative Dearomatization-Rearomatization Strategy

Anastasiia Afanasenko et al.

Summary: A robust one-pot approach for constructing structurally complex amines using biomass-derived phenols, natural alpha-amino acids, and naphthols under mild reaction conditions is presented. This approach combines photooxidative dearomatization-rearomatization strategy to enable the synthesis of arylamines in moderate-to-good yields.

Structural derivatization strategies of natural phenols by semi-synthesis and total-synthesis

Ding Lin et al.

Summary: Structural derivatization is an important approach to discover novel drugs, and natural phenols have played a significant role in the development of clinical drugs due to their wide pharmacological activities. However, the complexity and variety of natural phenols make structural derivatization challenging. This review comprehensively analyzes the derivatization strategies of natural phenols, with an emphasis on advanced strategies with high selectivity, efficiency, and practicality, in addition to classical methods.

Atom Economical Photocatalytic Oxidation of Phenols and Site-Selective Epoxidation Toward Epoxyquinols

Louis Peault et al.

Summary: The study presents a novel multiple-bond-forming process that combines singlet oxygen-mediated dearomatization with diastereo- and regioselective epoxidation, using a transition metal-free multicatalytic system. Mechanistic investigations have been conducted to elucidate the key species involved in this transformation. The method efficiently forms functionalized epoxyquinol products under mild conditions.
