Optimal control and comprehensive cost-effectiveness analysis for COVID-19

Joshua Kiddy K. Asamoah et al.

Summary: In this study, we used a nonlinear deterministic model to analyze the cost-effectiveness of COVID-19 control strategies in Saudi Arabia. We proposed four time-dependent optimal control strategies and performed numerical simulations. The results showed that practicing physical or social distancing protocols is the most cost-saving and effective intervention in the absence of vaccination.

Backward bifurcation and optimal control in a co-infection model for SARS-CoV-2 and ZIKV

Andrew Omame et al.

Summary: In this paper, a new mathematical model is presented to study the dynamics of co-infection of SARS-CoV-2 and Zika. The model incorporates incident co-infection by susceptible individuals and discusses the impact of this assumption on the co-infection model. The simulations show that prevention of SARS-CoV-2 could greatly reduce the burden of co-infections with Zika, while prevention controls for Zika can significantly decrease the burden of co-infections with SARS-CoV-2.

A co-infection model for oncogenic human papillomavirus and tuberculosis with optimal control and Cost-Effectiveness Analysis

Andrew Omame et al.

Summary: A co-infection model of oncogenic human papillomavirus (HPV) and tuberculosis (TB) was analyzed with optimal control and cost-effectiveness assessment. Results show that intervention strategies combining control against HPV infection by TB-infected individuals and TB treatment for dually infected individuals are the most cost-effective in managing the burden of co-infection.

Simultaneous Circulation of DENV, CHIKV, ZIKV and SARS-CoV-2 in Brazil: an Inconvenient Truth

Severino Jefferson Ribeiro da Silva et al.

Summary: This article discusses the challenges faced by the Brazilian public health system in dealing with the emergence of COVID-19 alongside ongoing arboviral epidemics. It emphasizes the importance of introducing a one health approach as an effective interdisciplinary response to mitigate the catastrophic effects caused by these pathogens.
