Pulse energy enhancement in a Passively Q-switched Yb:Lu0.74Y0.23La0.01VO4 laser with ReS2 saturable absorber

Summary: This study successfully integrated a ReS2 saturable absorber into a Yb:Lu0.74Y0.23La0.01VO4 crystal-based Q-switched laser, achieving a highest pulse energy of 5.3 μJ at a wavelength of 1.03 μm under maximum pump power, which is one order of magnitude higher than previously reported solid-state lasers based on ReS2 saturable absorbers at 1 μm.
