PVA/PVP/PEG polymeric blend loaded with nano-Zn0.75-xFexCd0.25S: effect of iron concentration on the optical characteristics

A. M. El-naggar et al.

Summary: A Poly(vinyl alcohol)/poly(ethylene glycol)/polyvinyl pyrrolidone blend loaded with nano-(Zn0.75-xFexCd0.25S) was prepared using thermolysis and casting procedures. The addition of Fe ions resulted in a slight increase in cell parameter and a decrease in crystallite size. X-ray diffraction analysis indicated possible cross-linking between different polymers in the blend. UV-Vis spectra analysis showed that the nanofiller-loaded blend had the highest values for absorbance, extinction coefficient, refractive index, dielectric constant, optical conductivity and nonlinear optical parameters when Fe content was 10%. The fluorescence intensity and colors emitted were dependent on the amount of Fe in the nanofiller, with the blend containing 15% Fe exhibiting the highest fluorescence intensity.

Effect of cycle numbers on the structural, linear and nonlinear optical properties in Fe2O3 thin films deposited by SILAR method

Ozge Erken

Summary: In this study, amorphous Fe2O3 thin films were successfully deposited on glass substrates using the SILAR method. The films exhibited porous surfaces and adjustable refractive indices in the visible range. The optical properties were characterized through measurements of transmittance and absorbance, and various optical parameters were calculated and analyzed. The results suggest that Fe2O3 thin films have potential applications in solar cells and optoelectronic devices.

Tailoring the linear and nonlinear optical characteristics of PVA/PVP polymeric blend using Co0.9Cu0.1S nanoparticles for optical and photonic applications

Sami S. Alharthi et al.

Summary: By incorporating Co0.9Cu0.1S nanoparticles (CCS NPs), the linear and nonlinear optical characteristics of polyvinyl alcohol/polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVA/ PVP) polymeric blend were successfully tailored. The introduction of CCS NPs led to changes in the optical energy bandgap, Urbach energy, refractive index, and optical sensitivity of the PVA/PVP blend. This paves the way for their applications in optical and photonic devices.

The Voltaic Effect as a Novel Mechanism Controlling the Remobilization of Cadmium in Paddy Soils during Drainage

Hui Huang et al.

Summary: Excessive cadmium accumulation in rice grain is a global issue affecting human health, with the voltaic effect identified as a novel mechanism controlling Cd remobilization during soil drainage. Metal sulfides with lower electrochemical potential are more prone to oxidative dissolution, while those with higher potential are protected from oxidation. The voltaic effect plays an important role in the oxidative dissolution of sulfides in trace metals coupled with the sulfur redox cycle in periodically anoxic-oxic environments.
