Sensitivity Improvement of a MXene- Immobilized SPR Sensor With Ga-Doped-ZnO for Biomolecules Detection

Rajeev Kumar et al.

Summary: This study presents a surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensor based on Gallium (Ga)-doped-Zinc oxide (ZnO) and Ti-3 C-2 T-x (MXene) for sensitivity enhancement. By using pulsed layer deposited Ga-doped-ZnO with smaller resistivity and high conductivity, the sensitivity of the sensor is improved to 264.59 degrees/RIU. Comparative analysis is conducted to investigate the effects of different prisms, plasmonic metals, and doping in ZnO on the performance parameters of the SPR sensor, and the maximum sensitivity is found for the sensor structure: Prism SiO2/Au/Ga-doped-ZnO/MXene.

Detection of glucose concentration using a surface plasmon resonance biosensor based on barium titanate layers and molybdenum disulphide sheets

Abdulkarem H. M. Almawgani et al.

Summary: Diabetes is a serious and life-threatening disease affecting 415 million people worldwide, making it a leading cause of death in the age group of 20 to 59. Developing a rapid, accurate, and sensitive glucose detector is essential. This study proposes a biosensor based on surface plasmon resonance (SPR) for glucose concentration detection, which exhibits ultra-high sensitivity.

Optical Detection of Fat Concentration in Milk Using MXene-Based Surface Plasmon Resonance Structure

Abdulkarem H. M. Almawgani et al.

Summary: MXene has been used as an interacting material for surface plasmon resonance configuration, due to its higher binding energies, stronger interaction between matter and light, and larger surface area. In this study, a SPR sensor based on MXene and silicon layer is proposed for detecting milk fat concentration. The sensor shows ultra-high sensitivity and is attractive for various biosensing applications.
