Morphological evolution and its correlation with optical and field emission properties in pulsed laser deposited ZnO nanostructures

Jai Singh et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the transformation of nanostructures in ZnO thin films with increasing growth temperature, with substrate temperature and growth time identified as determinant factors. Optical measurements indicate a decreasing optical band gap in ZnO films with increasing substrate temperature. The aligned ZnO nanocones exhibit stable field emission properties with a low threshold field and high field enhancement factor.

Structural and optical properties of Ti and Cu co-dopedZnOthin films for photovoltaic applications of dye sensitized solar cells

Bilal Mehmood et al.

Summary: ZnO, 1% Ti doped ZnO, and 1% Ti and Cu co-doped ZnO thin films were deposited on glass substrates using sol-gel technique. The co-doping of Ti and Cu significantly impacted the structural properties of the films, affecting grain size, lattice parameters, and dislocation line density. Optical analysis showed high transmittance in the visible region, with the 1% Ti and 1% Cu co-doped ZnO film exhibiting high absorbance and refractive index compared to other doped films. Dye-sensitized solar cells using the Ti-Cu co-doped film achieved the highest efficiency, attributed to increased surface area, reduced recombination rate, and enhanced electron injection efficiency. Co-doping of Cu and Ti into ZnO thin films is suggested to enhance solar cell efficiency.

Study of structural, optical and morphological properties of ZnO/ZnS hetrostructures deposited by spray pyrolysis method

Mohammad Reza Khanlary et al.

Summary: In this study, ZnO/ZnS multilayer thin films were prepared using the spray pyrolysis method, and their crystalline structure and properties were analyzed in detail. The formation of a new hydroxide phase, simonkolleite, and its photocatalytic activity were observed, along with the random arrangement of nanoplates in the prepared nanocomposite. Changes in absorption edge and bandgap reduction were discussed in comparison to ZnS monolayer samples, and the passivation effect of the core/shell structure significantly altered the PL intensity ratio of ZnO in the multilayer films. The emission bands were also affected by surface defects at the interface between ZnO and ZnS layers.

Evaluation of photocatalysis of Au supported ZnO prepared by the spray pyrolysis method

Youngjun Lee et al.

Summary: This study investigates the control of electron-hole recombination of a photocatalyst by loading gold on zinc oxide. The optimal photocatalytic activity occurs with 0.1 mass% gold supported on zinc oxide particles, showing faster decomposition rate of organic dye. The findings suggest that Au/ZnO particles hold promising potential for environmentally friendly treatment methods in reducing environmental pollution caused by organic dyes.

SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF (ZNO)-(CO3O4) NANOCOMPOSITE VIA SPRAY PYROLYSIS PROCESS: THE USE OF THE BRUGGEMAN MODEL ON OPTICAL PROPERTIES PREVISION

K. M. E. Boureguig et al.

Summary: In this study, (ZnO)-(Co3O4) nanocomposite thin films were prepared using spray pyrolysis deposition at 350°C on a glass substrate. The films were characterized using XRD, SEM, and UV-vis spectrophotometer. The optical properties of the nanocomposite thin film were found to depend on the influence of pure ZnO and Co3O4 materials, with different band gap energies observed. The application of the Bruggeman model proved useful for predicting the optical properties of the composite, showing significant influence of volume concentration and optical dielectric constant of the ingredients on the effective dielectric constant of the nanocomposite thin film.

Effects of substrate temperature and sodium source temperature on Na doping of ZnO by MOCVD

Yangfan Lu et al.

Summary: Na-doped ZnO thin films were successfully grown by MOCVD using CpNa as the sodium source. The properties of the films were found to be significantly influenced by substrate temperature and sodium source temperature, leading to nonlinear variation in surface morphology and electrical properties. The variation trend was attributed to changes in doping content and impurity position, especially the Na impurity position, in the films.
