The effect of ultrasonic wave amplitude on the physical properties of zinc oxide (ZnO) deposited by ultrasonic spray method

A. Attaf et al.

Summary: In this study, high quality ZnO thin films were prepared by an ultrasonic spray pyrolysis technique with careful optimization of the ultrasonic wave amplitude. The films exhibited polycrystalline structure with a wurtzite phase, and their thickness and optical properties were influenced by the applied wave amplitude. Various techniques such as XRD and SEM were used to characterize the thin films, confirming their improved properties with increasing ultrasonic wave amplitude.

Effect of Fe ions beam on the structural, optical, photovoltaic properties of TiO2 based dye-sensitized solar cells

M. Irfan et al.

Summary: Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) are a better alternative to silicon-based solar cells due to their flexibility, lightweight, economy, and environmental friendliness. By irradiating TiO2 films with iron ions, the efficiency of DSSCs can be improved. The study shows that the maximum reduction in TiO2 film occurs when irradiated with iron ions at a fluency rate of 4 x 10(14) ions-cm(-2), as evidenced by X-ray diffraction and UV-visible spectroscopy.

Summary: The casting method was used to prepare polymer blend films doped with different concentrations of TiO2. The study analyzed the crystalline properties, vibrational bands, optical constants, and thermal stability of the nanocomposites. The results showed that doping TiO2 can decrease the optical band gap values of the nanocomposite films and enhance the thermal stability of the polymer blend, indicating potential for manufacturing high-efficiency optoelectronic devices.

Dependence of the Physical Properties of Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) Thin Films Grown by Sol-Gel (Spin-Coating) Process on Thickness

F. Zeribi et al.

Summary: Highly transparent TiO2 nano-crystalline thin films were prepared using a sol-gel spin coating technique. The effects of the number of layers on the physical properties of the films were studied. The results show that the films have an anatase phase structure and high optical transparency, while the optical gap energy decreases with increasing number of layers. The films also exhibit functional groups and chemical bonding, and the resistivity increases with the number of layers.

Fabrication of electrochromic TiO2:Nb films by ultrasonic spray pyrolysis

Rongxin Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, Nb-doped TiO2 (NTO) films were fabricated on ITO glass substrates using the ultrasonic spray pyrolysis (USP) method. The effects of deposition temperature and film thickness on the microstructure and electrochromic property of NTO films were investigated. The results showed that increasing the deposition temperature improved the crystallinity and electrochromic properties of the films, while the growth direction and surface morphology of the NTO grains were strongly influenced by the film thickness. The NTO films with a thickness of 300 nm and sheet-structured grains exhibited optimal properties, allowing precise independent spectral control over material transmittance in the visible and near-infrared regions.

Spatially selective nanoplasmonic response in Ag embedded GLAD TiO2 nanocomposite thin films

Rajnarayan De et al.

Summary: The spatial variation of the nanoplasmonic behavior of Ag decorated TiO2 film structure was achieved by using a novel collimated glancing angle deposition technique (collimated-GLAD) to prepare a tailored optical response of the underlying dielectric TiO2 thin film. The blue shift in maximum attenuation coefficient region and minimum film transmittance region of the Ag/collimated-GLAD TiO2 nanocomposite coating with increase in height from the evaporation source was due to the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) phenomenon and thin film interference. The measured transmittance spectra showed spatial selectivity in LSPR wavelength, and the variation of the refractive index of the surrounding TiO2 layer was the key factor responsible for the spatially varying nanoplasmonic response. The Ag/collimated-GLAD TiO2 film exhibited enhanced Raman scattering and photocatalysis driven dimerization conversion, resulting in the substantial enhancement of Raman peak intensities compared to the blank substrate.

The TiO2/Ag2S photoanode, synthesized by chemically grown Ag2S nanoparticles over porous TiO2 at room temperature, showed uniform decoration of tiny Ag2S nanoparticles. The performance of the device, including its structural, optical, surface morphological and electrochemical characteristics, was systematically studied. The maximum photo conversion efficiency of 1.3% was achieved under illumination of simulated sunlight.

Summary: In this study, titanium dioxide thin films were deposited using high power impulse magnetron sputtering (HiPIMS) at different positions on the substrate. The films exhibited different crystal phases depending on the radial distance from the substrate-holder center. The surface morphology and optical properties of the films were also investigated. The results showed that the films had homogeneous surfaces with low roughness and exhibited high refractive index and large indirect optical band gaps. Additionally, the films showed potential for UV-blocking and antireflection applications.

Influence of thickness on crystallographic, stereometric, optoelectronic, and electrochemical characteristics of electron-beam deposited indium tin oxide thin films

Fatemeh Ghamari et al.

Summary: ITO thin films with high transparency, low resistivity, and smooth surface are important for optoelectronic and energy storage applications. The research showed that as the thickness of ITO films increased, the crystallite size and lattice constant increased, while strain, dislocation density, and texture coefficient showed a different trend. Thicker ITO films were found to have a smoother surface and lower porosity.
