Tailoring the structural and optical properties of HiPIMS TiO2 thin films for photovoltaic applications

N. Zinai et al.

Summary: In this study, titanium dioxide thin films were deposited using high power impulse magnetron sputtering (HiPIMS) at different positions on the substrate. The films exhibited different crystal phases depending on the radial distance from the substrate-holder center. The surface morphology and optical properties of the films were also investigated. The results showed that the films had homogeneous surfaces with low roughness and exhibited high refractive index and large indirect optical band gaps. Additionally, the films showed potential for UV-blocking and antireflection applications.

Summary: Alcohol oxidation is an important chemical reaction of interest in energy and industrial sectors. In this study, n-TiO2@WO3 heterojunction photocatalysts were prepared and their catalytic activity towards methanol oxidation under visible-light was investigated. The hybrid photocatalyst showed enhanced activity compared to pure counterparts.
