Harmonic and fundamental-frequency mode-locked operations in an Er-doped fiber laser using a Cr2Si2Te6-based saturable absorber

Nannan Xu et al.

Summary: The article discusses the use of Cr2Si2Te6 as a saturable absorber to demonstrate a pulsed Er-doped fiber laser based on its nonlinear saturable absorption properties. The experimental results show that Cr2Si2Te6 SA has enormous potential in demonstrating ultrafast fiber lasers and provides references for future research based on Cr2Si2Te6 as ultrafast optical modulators.

Nonlinear photoresponse of high damage threshold titanium disulfide nanocrystals for Q-switched pulse generation

Xinxin Shang et al.

Summary: A passively Q-switched Er-doped fiber laser with two wavelengths was designed using a titanium disulfide saturable absorber. The ultra-fast modulator was fabricated using TiS2 and transferred onto a fiber ferrule. The experimental results showed that the laser had a long pulse duration, high output power, and adjustable repetition rate. The study suggested that TiS2 nanocrystals with high damage threshold had great potential for application in pulse fiber lasers.

WxNb(1-x)Se2 nanosheets for ultrafast photonics

Lu Li et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the use of WxNb(1-x)Se2 nanosheets as ultrafast photonic devices to generate high power mode-locked and Q-switched pulses in a fiber laser. The results show improvements compared to recent studies, suggesting that 2D TTMDC-based devices could be efficient candidates for ultrafast photonics and nonlinear optical applications.
