Design of a graphene-based multi-band metamaterial perfect absorber in THz frequency region for refractive index sensing

Mohammad-Reza Nickpay et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a multi-band metamaterial perfect absorber formed by an array of combined H and U-shaped graphene stripes, and numerically simulates its performance using the finite element method. The simulation results demonstrate that the absorption spectra of the absorber can be adjusted by changing the chemical potential of the graphene layer, and the absorber also shows potential as a refractive index sensor.

Tunable polarization-independent and angle-insensitive broadband terahertz absorber with graphene metamaterials

He Feng et al.

Summary: This paper presents a novel graphene metamaterial absorber with polarization-independent and angle-insensitive properties in the THz frequency range. It achieves absorption above 99% and tunability from 1% to 99% by adjusting the Fermi energy level of graphene. The absorber maintains an average absorption greater than 80% when incident angles vary from 0 to 60 degrees, showing promising performance for potential applications in THz energy harvesting and thermal emission.

Tunable ultrathin ultrabroadband metamaterial absorber with graphene-stack-based structure at lower terahertz frequency

Yanfei Dong et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the absorption characteristics of a graphene-stack-based metamaterial absorber at lower terahertz frequencies, demonstrating ultrathin and ultrabroadband capabilities. The absorption spectrum can be controlled by adjusting the gate voltage on the cavity, achieving high absorption rates in specific frequency ranges. The research shows great potential for application in terahertz device design.

Quad-band polarization-insensitive metamaterial perfect absorber based on bilayer graphene metasurface

Pouria Zamzam et al.

Summary: This paper presents a quad-band, polarization-insensitive metamaterial perfect absorber based on bi-layer graphene. By stacking the double layer graphene metasurface, a quad-band perfect absorber with an average absorption of 99.43% at four different frequencies is achieved. The proposed structure has advantages of tunable resonant frequency, polarization insensitivity, and tolerance to incident angles, showing potential in filtering, detection, imaging, and photodetector applications.
