Conservative treatment of hepatic portal venous gas resulting from non-occlusive mesenteric ischemia: a case report

Summary: This case report describes a 73-year-old man with severe intellectual disability, malnutrition, and hypoalbuminemia presenting with vomiting after dinner, ultimately diagnosed with NOMI accompanied by HVPG. Treatment included peripheral parenteral nutrition, antibiotic therapy, and human serum albumin, with the disappearance of HVPG approximately 20 hours later.

Hepatic portal vein gas associated with intestinal ischemia and acute gastric dilatation: a case report

Summary: Hepatic portal vein gas (HPVG) is a rare and alarming radiographic finding, especially for patients with intestinal ischemia, which may indicate a serious infection leading to septic shock and death. The pathogenesis of HPVG is not fully understood, but it is important to closely monitor and take action for patients with HPVG associated with intestinal ischemia due to its potential life-threatening complications.
