Tolerance of Perovskite Solar Cells under Proton and Electron Irradiation

Pei Li et al.

Summary: In this work, radiation experiments and simulations were conducted on perovskite solar cells (PSCs). The results showed that the PSCs in this study exhibited robustness to proton irradiation but were more sensitive to electron irradiation, with the interface being particularly sensitive.

Perovskite solar cells with atomically coherent interlayers on SnO2 electrodes

Hanul Min et al.

Summary: By introducing an interlayer between the electron-transporting and perovskite layers in perovskite solar cells, researchers have successfully enhanced charge extraction and transport from the perovskite, leading to higher power conversion efficiency and fewer interfacial defects. The coherent interlayer allowed the fabrication of devices with a certified efficiency of 25.5%, which maintained about 90% of its initial efficiency even after continuous light exposure for 500 hours. The findings provide guidelines for designing defect-minimizing interfaces in metal halide perovskites and electron-transporting layers.

Perovskite Solar Cells for Space Applications: Progress and Challenges

Yongguang Tu et al.

Summary: Metal halide perovskites have versatile optoelectronic properties that make them promising candidates for next-generation space photovoltaic technology, despite being in the early stages of research compared to other practical space photovoltaics. The review highlights recent progress in perovskite solar cells for space applications, focusing on performance evolution and mechanism exploration under extreme space environments.

Energy-dependent knock-on damage of organic-inorganic hybrid perovskites under electron beam irradiation: First-principles insights

Zenghua Cai et al.

Summary: First-principles calculations show significant knock-on atomic displacement damage in the organic-inorganic hybrid perovskite CH3NH3PbI3, with displacement of H, C, N, and I atoms dependent on incident energy. High-energy irradiation can cause simultaneous loss of CH3NH3 and I due to knock-on displacements, which may impact experimental conclusions.

Tolerance of Perovskite Solar Cells to Targeted Proton Irradiation and Electronic Ionization Induced Healing

Brandon K. Durant et al.

Summary: The study found that mixed organic-inorganic halide perovskite solar cells show relatively high tolerance to high-energy proton radiation, and an unexpected increase in open circuit voltage and power density is observed when proton energy is increased.
