Neuroprotective efficacy of berberine following developmental exposure to chlorpyrifos in F1 generation of Wistar rats: Apoptosis-autophagy interplay

Era Seth et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the neuroprotective role of Berberine (BBR) against Chlorpyrifos (CPF)-induced autophagy dysfunction and apoptotic neurodegeneration in the developing hippocampus. BBR treatment attenuated oxidant-antioxidant imbalance, histomorphological alterations, and cognitive impairment caused by CPF intoxication. BBR co-treatment regulated the expression of apoptotic genes and upregulated the levels of autophagy, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic intervention for CPF-induced neurotoxicity.

Soybean isoflavones protect SH-SY5Y neurons from atrazine-induced toxicity by activating mitophagy through stimulation of the BEX2/BNIP3/NIX pathway

Peng Li et al.

Summary: Soybean isoflavones can protect neurons against ATR toxicity by promoting mitophagy, and their neuroprotective efficacy is superior to their major individual components. The study also shows that SI can activate the BEX2/BNIP3/NIX pathway to counteract ATR-induced mitochondrial dysfunction and neurotoxicity.
